I get this question all the time, I even got it today when I was working.  Do I pick the granite first or the tile backsplash first?  I always say, good question!   There is more than one way to do this.  What I like to do is assemble my pallet…pick a color of cabinet, select an idea or couple of ideas for granite and head to the tile store.  Having enough samples with you and a good idea of what you would like always helps.  Magazine articles and pictures off websites like those on www.capekitchens.com are great places to find examples of backsplash.  Most important – BE FLEXIBLE – what you liked in the showroom may look different out in the world.  The combination of color, design and finish may change based on which direction you head.
